Betfair hot for WSOP

Betfair Poker announce plans to spend $1 million on WSOP qualifiers

If you ask us lot here at PokerPlayer, the World Series of Poker can’t come soon enough. We are dying to get stuck into the intrigue,  tournament dynamics, and of course we are already speculating on a possible winner.

It’s odds on that the winner will be an online qualifier and all the internet poker rooms are desperate to supply the eventual champion.

Betfair Poker is offering an unlimited number of seats for the World Series of Poker (WSOP). Fast becoming the most popular place to qualify for this event, Betfair Poker is working hard to maintain its philosophy of bringing more to the table.

Last year, the WSOP top prize was a huge $7.5m and nine players took home over a million dollars each. This is a dramatic shift from five years ago when the main event winner took home $1.5 million. The stage is set for what will almost certainly be a record year.

“We expect to spend over $1 million sending players to the World Series. With offers like the Threedom Pass, we have added value to the proposition,” said Betfair’s Head of Poker, Ben Fried.

The Threedom Pass offers members of Team Betfair Poker the opportunity to return to poker tournaments for free for three years if they make the final table. At the WSOP the Threedom Pass will be worth $45,000.

Online qualifiers are likely to represent over 90% of the field at the WSOP. Last year’s winner Joe Hachem is a keen online player and a former Chiropractor. This year could see more career changes.
