Betfair Switches to iPoker

World’s leading betting exchange launches on iPoker network

Betfair has began it’s move over to iPoker with the successful debut of both the .com and .ES networks this week. The world’s leading betting exchange has seen a fall in users recently and hopes that the switchover will encourage old players to return, plus hopefully add some new ones too.

Currently, Bet365, Paddy Power, Poker770, Titan, William Hill, Winner and Everest all use the iPoker network and now Betfair can add its name to that illustrious list. By joining iPoker, Betfair gives it’s users access to much bigger player pools which brings with it more games, more tables, bigger tournaments, bigger guarantees and more prize money. The partnership also works both ways with Betfair bringing additional liquidity to the iPoker network, which is currently in a battle with PartyPoker and the newly relaunched Full Tilt Poker for second place in the online poker rankings.

The betting exchange first announced its plan to get involved in the Spanish market back in the summer of 2012 and after only six months of negotiations and planning the deal has come to fruition. For iPoker’s Spanish contingent, it is also expected to bring a much needed boost to a player pool which currently sits behind PokerStars, PartyPoker and 888 but this latest move will certainly close that gap. For now though Betfair will continue to use the Ongame skin alongside iPoker in the background, primarily for its existing users, until the full transfer over to iPoker is completed within the next six-months.
