Greg Raymer captures fourth HPT title of the year

2004 WSOP Main Event champion Greg ‘Fossilman’ Raymer has continued his amazing run at the Heartland Poker Tour after he collected his fourth title of the year in the season finale at the Belterra Casino Resort, Indiana. The win earned Raymer $106,030 and means that he finishes the season at the top of the money leaderboard after narrowly edging out Craig Casino.

Raymer who has only competed in six events in the entire season has cashed in four, of which he has remarkably won all of them. The victory also means that Raymer captured the player of the year award. “I’m overwhelmed,” he commented after collecting his latest HPT title.

Heading into the final table Raymer still had it all to do as he was the short-stack at the table, but after one double-up followed by some excellent play, he found himself with the chip-lead after only eight hands making the win all the more impressive.

When it got down to heads-up the only man standing between Raymer and his fourth title was Jacob Bazeley, a seasoned poker pro with over $1 million dollars in prize money, but he was no match for the Fossilman.

The final hand saw all the chips go into the middle with Bazeley turning over Ad-6d only to find himself dominated by Raymer’s As-Qh. The flop, turn and river helped neither player and Raymer was collected his fouth title of the year.

Here’s how the final table finished up:

1. Greg Raymer – $106,030
2. Jacob Bazeley – $59,706
3. Bruce Ostrander – $38,088
4. Iverson Snuffer – $32,941
5. Jason Gwinn – $25,324
6. Kenny Hicks – $20,588
