Isildur1 dominates $1m Showdown

Blom beats Haxton out of $500k

Spare a thought for Isaac Haxton. The high-stakes star was 2-0 against Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom before their $1m SuperStar Showdown last weekend. But when the big money was on the line, the Isildur1 of old was back in full swing, hustling Haxton out of $500k over three drama-filled days online.

The match-up was booked last week, with the duo each stumping up $500k of their own money for a winner-takes-all heads-up war across four $200/$400 tables. And although originally scheduled for two days, Isildur1 needed an extra couple of hours to finish Haxton off, with the full match taking 12 hours and 5,030 hands to finish.

It all kicked off on Saturday, where after 1,901 hands, Blom had opened up a healthy $198,438 lead. By day two that lead was $281k and on Monday the Swede degen finally finished the job.

‘It feels good. It was a tough game,’ the always talkative Blom said afterwards. ‘Haxton played good as usual. Maybe he played a bit too passive.’

Our friends over at PokerStars have got all the details on Blom and Haxton’s biggest hands, and there are even a few nifty videos to boot. For all the action click here.

Blom’s win takes his record against Haxton to a more respectable 1-2 and his total SuperStar Showdown tally to 10-4.

The next SuperStar Showdown is no doubt right round the corner. For all the news on who’s next to step foot in Isildur’s Den, keep checking PokerPlayer.
