ISPT set for 2013

€20m event to attract 30,000 players

Looking forwards to the first International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) event in 2012? Well, there’s been a change of plans. The biggest live tournament ever held will now kick-off in 2013, with 30,000 hopefuls expected to descend on Wembley stadium for a shot at the €20m guaranteed prizepool.

Backed by potential Full Tilt buyers the Bernard Tapie Group, details of the ISPT surfaced last October and the brand new super tournament series will boast some of the biggest prizepools ever seen in live poker.

The ‘mega’ tournaments will take place once a year at world renowned stadiums, and where better to kick things off than right here in the UK?

In 2013, 30,000 players will rock up to Wembley to battle through the early rounds on tablet computers, before the final 3,000 play live until somebody has all the chips.

Details are still sketchy, but the winner could walk off with $10 million while qualifying for the five-day event will be done through ‘to-be-determined’ poker sites, with more than 1m players expected to try and book their seats online.

Final dates for the tournament are yet to be released, but with major sponsors being touted and broadcasts of the event being shown in 28 countries, it should be a tournament unlike any other.
