Julian Thew wins big at Dusk Till Dawn 500

It seems like Julian Thew just can’t stop winning. The man from Nottingham notched up his third title of the year in the 500 Deepstack tournament at the Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club in his home town. The win comes only a few weeks after his fourth place finish at the recent Irish Open. Thew managed to outlast 188 players in the £500 buy-in event en route to his latest crown. Along with his trophy, Thew also took home £26,299 in prize money, taking his total live winnings to more than $3 million.

Returning for Day 2, Thew found himself right in the middle of the 45-strong pack but by the time the final table of nine was set, he was perfectly placed. Heading into heads-up Thew held a dominating 3:1 chip advantage but with some strong play his opponent Tsun Yin Wong managed to claw his way back to all square, before the man from Nottingham took charge once again. The end finally came at 4am the following morning when a short-stacked Wong was forced to move all in with A-6. Thew called holding K-3 and a 3 on the river was enough to give him one pair and yet another title to add to his trophy cabinet.

Here is how the final table finished up:

1. Julian Thew – £26,299
2. Tsun Wong – £15,197
3. Jason Barton – £9,100
4. Ashraf Wahid – £6,370
5. Karl Caldeira – £5,005
6. Sean Randall – £4,095
7. Fahd Bennani Smires – £3,640
8. Dipak Makawana – £2,912
9. Lawrence Townsend – £2,457

As well as the DTD 500 Main Event, there was also a £150 Deepstack event for the players with slightly smaller bankrolls and it was Chris Gill who came out on top of the 220-strong field to take home £7,781 first prize.
