New TV channel

Online poker room set to build on success with move into television programming

Get ready for another poker TV channel, as Jonny Texas Productions launches on the SKY TV platform in April in the UK.

The channel is due to air on SKY channel 187 and will broadcast for two hours every weekday evening (11pm-1am), and will feature programming from the poker scene, including news, tournaments, live updates, and interviews with major poker players and celebrities.

The channel is based in the West Midlands and will be produced out of studios at The Mailbox, Birmingham, and operated by Birmingham-based RajTV.

The focus of the programming will be the UK and world poker scene, and the flagship show will be “A World of Poker”, presented by Malcolm “The Rock” Harwood.

The launch of the network represents a further development for the “Jonny Texas” enterprise, which incorporates an online poker room (jonnytexaspoker.com), currently attracting up to 6,500 players from around the world; as well as a merchandising company which meets a worldwide demand for “Jonny Texas” branded poker products.

“The poker scene is enormous, both across the UK and worldwide,” explained Birmingham-born poker star Jonny Texas, who continued: “The launch of a television network dedicated entirely to poker is the next logical step in the development of the business.”

He continued “The timing of the programming ideal for people returning from an evening out, and the content is aimed at poker and gaming enthusiasts as well as to a general audience.”
