$ 500 Casino Employees Event

Bartender Andrew Cohen wins WSOP 2009’s first bracelet

The eagerly anticipated WSOP kicked off in earnest early this morning as bartender Andrew Cohen claimed the first bracelet of 2009.

Continuing from Thursday, Cohen took the $ 500 Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em title and with it the bragging rights to having won the 2009 WSOP’s first piece of jewellery. No doubt overjoyed with this accolade, Cohen will be similarly chuffed with the $ 83,778 first place prize.

The 39 year old father of one from Las Vegas outlasted 866 players over the course. He beat Casey Kuhn from Iowa, and Paul Peterson also from Las Vegas into 3rd and 2nd place respectively.
