Confessions of a poker player with Phil Hellmuth: “Hayden Christensen was signed to play me in the movie of my life but then he decided to shoot Jumper instead”

Phil Hellmuth, the Poker Brat, tells us why he loves lions, Scotch and omni-tools.

What puts you on tilt?

When I’m supposed to win a big pot and I don’t. There are always weird hands that come up and someone goes crazy and it costs you.

Would you rather be lucky or good?

Both.

Phil Hellmuth is…

A force.

If the world ended tomorrow I would…

Spend time with my family.

Blondes or brunettes?

Pass. I’ve been married for 22 years, but I recognise beauty in women across the board. There are a lot of beautiful women out there and I’m allowed to look.

First car?

A $1,000 Buick. It was pretty decent for a first car. It got passed around the family so much the floor eventually fell out.

What superhero power would you pick and why?

Probably reading people’s minds, but I already have a little bit of that. Flying would be pretty cool.

Most embarrassing moment?

When I go off a little bit and start babbling because I’m so frustrated. I watch myself back on TV and can be a bit embarrassed.

Describe yourself in three words?

Passionate, honourable and strong.

Who would play you in the film of your life?

Hayden Christensen was signed to play me in the movie of my life. Then he decided to shoot Jumper instead.

Five things you’d take to a desert island?

My wife, my iPad, a TV, some Macallan’s Scotch and some kind of omni-tool.

What animal would you be and why?

It would have to be one of the most powerful so probably a lion or an eagle. Nobody f*%!s with a lion.

Would you rather lose or never play?

Haha! I could not handle losing all the time. I would much rather Casinos can bend never play.
