Poker Player profiles: Annie Duke

PokerPlayer showcases player profiles Annie Duke

The offspring of two teachers, Annie was destined for a life of academia, but while she derived from an educated background, it was also a competitive one in which a pack of cards became the order of the day.

Having majored in English and Psychology, Annie was whisked away by her then husband Ben Duke to Billings, Montana where she quickly began earning her crust at the local casinos.

Bankrolled and encouraged by brother Howard Lederer, Annie played the 1994 WSOP before going on to win multiple events including a bracelet in 2004 and the winner-takes-all Tournament of Champions for $2,000,000.

Although boasting the most WSOP in-the-money cashes of any female player, she is constantly regarded as one of the world’s finest tournament players, regardless of her gender.

Now residing in Vegas with new love Joe Reitman and her four children, Annie has successfully raised her profile on shows the Colbert Report, Deal or No Deal and the Late Show with David Letterman, not to mention her recent sought after appearance in blondepedia!

A spokesperson for UltimateBet since the turn of the millennium, Annie also supports a number of non-profit organisations, most notably Ante Up for Africa and the Poker Players Alliance.
