Impressive turnout for PokerStars EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo as main event reaches Day 2

The European Poker Tour Grand Final main event, held in the impressive Le Sporting in beautiful Monte Carlo, has got off to a brilliant start with 641 players buying in for €10,600 – an increase of 110 players from the 2013 total. Day 1A has 214 entrants, while Day 1B drew an enormous field of 427. Out of that 641 total there will be 347 players returning for Day 2, which begins at 12.00 CET. Many big names in the poker world have made it through to Day 2 including Phil Ivey, Betrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Sorel Mizzi, Annette Obrestad, Barry Greenstein and Antonio Esfandiari. The current chip leader is German player Hendrik Latz.

The 2013 EPT Grand Final main event had one of the most star-studded final tables in poker history. Steve O’Dwyer, Andrew Pantling, Johnny Lodden, Daniel Negreanu, Jake Cody and Jason Mercier all battled it out on a table that looked more like a hand-picked episode of High Stakes Poker than an open-field major tournament. The action more than lived up to the hype too, as you can see by re-watching the finale in this video…

Will the 2014 EPT Grand Final main event be able to live up to the expectations set last year? Find out for yourself by watching the live stream RIGHT HERE on PokerPlayer.co.uk.
