PokerStars announce new TV show ‘The Shark Cage’

PokerStars has launched a series of online qualifying tournaments for a new TV show called ‘The Shark Cage’ which will feature a winner-take-all first prize of $1 million. The first two televised heats of the show will take place at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January 2014.

The Shark Cage is a series of eight heats (spread across various EPT stops throughout the year) that will culminate in a final table where one player will scoop the $1 million first prize. Each heat will comprise five of the biggest names in poker and an online qualifier – much like ‘The Big Game’ – one of our favourite poker shows in recent years.

To be in with a shot at winning a trip to the Caribbean in January, and play in one of the televised heats, PokerStars players simply need to make a deposit using one of the bonus codes listed here.

Each qualifying tournament will have a $5,000 added cash prize and the top 50 players from each of the six qualifiers will get a chance to audition for ‘The Shark Cage’ TV show. To do this, a qualifying player will have to record a video audition in English, upload it to YouTube and then email the link to sharkcage@pokerstars.com before December 9. The PokerStars judges will make their decision based on ‘personality, enthusiasm, humour and talent.’

Sounds like I should get the video camera out…
