Top 5: Biggest celebrity poker winners

There are lots of celebrity poker players – and there are some you won’t want to meet at the tables (unless you’re a big fan!)

1. Gabe Kaplan: $1,991,248
You might know him from the much-missed High Stakes Poker, but Kaplan was – and still is – a successful stand-up comedian and star of sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter. He’s also made 11 WSOP cashes including a runner-up spot in 2005.

2. Michael Greco: $1,104,931
The much-loved Beppe from Eastenders turned himself into a pretty accomplished poker player, with a win at the GUKPT in 2007 for £97,680 and a third in a $1,500 NLHE at the 2009 WSOP for $248k. He’s now in the US pursuing acting again.

3. Jennifer Tilly: $891,254
The Oscar-nominated actress is the  only celeb in our top five with a WSOP bracelet – from the Ladies event in 2005. She’s had a string of cashes since, including a seven-figure score in the 2010 Bellagio Cup.

4. Sam Simon: $358,655
After writing for Cheers, Simon went on to develop The Simpsons in 1989. He’s been a regular at the WSOP since and finished 20th in the 2009 $10k World Championship Pot-Limit Hold’em event. He was married to Jennifer Tilly from 1984 to 1991.

5. Ben Affleck: $356,400
Affleck’s one major cash was a $356k win in the $10k California State Poker Championship in 2004, but he’s rumoured to play a lot of high-stakes cash. He was also banned from playing Blackjack at the Hard Rock Las Vegas last month for card counting.
