“There are two sides to any story. The big question this month is whether ESPN are going to show both of them, or select their own narrative to run with in their WSOP highlights package.

We talked about the controversy surrounding Will Kassouf at the Main Event last issue, and he agreed to talk to us to put his side of the story forward in our cover feature. It’s a fascinating look at a poker player who’s worked hard to get his game onto the biggest stage of them all, and almost made it to the very top of the poker world.

Kassouf went out in 17th in a massive Kings v Aces cooler with Griffin Benger and it’s this hand, and another big one from Day 5 with Stacy Matuson, that should start the debate around what’s acceptable and what’s not when it comes to talking at the poker table. Kassouf himself admits he’s ‘like Marmite’ – some people love him, some people hate him – but if what he’s doing isn’t breaking any rules, should he be stopped from doing it?

The highlights from a thoroughly entertaining Main Event start on September 11 on ESPN. We’ve got faith that they’ll take a balanced view – they always have in the past – and we’re looking forward to the build-up to the November Nine. You can find out who our money’s on by reading the issue!”
