2015 World Series of Poker: Top 5 wishlist

We’ve always been told that if you don’t ask you don’t get, so here are the things we want to see happen in Las Vegas this summer…

1. Phil v Phil

Love him or loathe him Phil Hellmuth is Mr WSOP, and if he makes a final table you can bet that the live stream will be the most watched of the summer. We hope Hellmuth gets 14 but we’re also looking forward to Phil Ivey getting his 11th and moving into second in the all-time bracelet list, ahead of Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan.

2. Girls on top

We really, really want a female player to make the final table of the Main Event. It would be great for the game, great for the player involved and great for women in poker. It would also focus attention back on the November Nine. It’s very unlikely to happen, however. The last woman standing in 2014 was Maria ho in 77th. If you’re offered a bet, don’t take lower than 10/1.

3. Poker legend

Doyle Brunson might be getting near the end of his tournament career, but we hope he makes another appearance in the $50k Poker Players Championship. He busted on Day 3 last year. It won’t be the same without you Doyle.

4. Twitch up

This year marks the first ever online bracelet event and we’re hoping a big name live streams it on Twitch and gets to the final table. Imagine the numbers Jason Somerville or Daniel Negreanu would get!

5. Going up

Main Event numbers were up last year with 6,683 players making it the biggest since 2011. The promise of paying 1,000 players will hopefully lead to another increase this year. Also, we know this is probably too much to ask, but Mark Newhouse finishing ninth again for the third year in a row would be incredible!
