The final freeroll in the fantastic Grand Prix 8 on Winamax played out last night and, as we expected, it was a tense affair which went right down to the wire. In a rollercoaster six-max tourney, the final 20 qualifiers weren’t decided until the final table. It ended in champagne for some and memories of what might have been for others, including the Despera-tely unlucky DesperaDOh, who just missed out on an automatic live final seat by finishing second last night, and on a leaderboard seat by just six places and 12 points. The winner – IveyProtege – was our second double winner. After AMRN, who won freerolls seven and eight, IveyProtege did the same winning last night’s finale to go with his second freeroll victory.
Meanwhile, the top 20 on the leaderboard join the freeroll winners in the €5k live final due to be held at Aspers, Westfield, on February 1. Congratulations to everyone who qualified and commiserations to everyone who missed out. There is still one last chance to join us for the live final though. We’ve got a final €5 buy-in event on January 13. There are no points up for grabs in this but finish in the top three and you’ll win one of the last three golden tickets.
