Return of the Goliath

Europe’s biggest poker event is back for a crack at its own record

The Grosvenor Goliath returns to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry this July and will be hoping to beat its own record for the largest live event in Europe. In 2014, 2,374 players combined for a total of 3,394 entries. Last year, 2,764 unique players took part with 1,446 re-entries creating a total prize pool of £421,000 (see the highlights below). Over £200,000 in cash prizes was awarded to the final 9 players, and Miikka toikka took home an incredible £70,800 for his tiny investment.

This year’s Goliath Festival runs July 30 – August 7 with seven day 1s. Players can enter each day 1 up to three times. The fields will combine on Saturday August 6 and reconvene to play down to the trophy on Sunday. Satellites are running on GrosvenorPoker.com now. If you fancy making a week of it there are plenty of side events on top, with ‘Joker is wild’ and ‘win the button’ joining more serious favourites such as ‘4/5/6 Omaha’ and the new ‘25/50’.
