Premier League 27/09: Early goals in the Merseyside derby

Bank on first half goals in one of the most fiercely contested games of the season

Only one of Liverpool and Everton’s combined 10 Premier League games this season hasn’t seen a goal scored before the 25th minute.

BetVictor have priced up over 1.5 goals in the first half at Anfield at 11/8, tempting odds considering it would have landed in three of the pair’s past four meetings.

However, it is the Liverpudlian duo’s exploits this season that really makes it likely that fans will have witnessed at least two strikes by the interval. There have been four goals before the 10-minute mark in the Reds past three league matches, with Brendan Rodgers’ side scoring just one of them.

The Toffees look primed to take advantage of this generosity having scored in the first half of every league game they’ve played this season. The only match where they didn’t score before the 20th minute was against Chelsea, and Everton kept the early goal count high in that match by conceding two in the first three minutes.

Roberto Martinez’s side have conceded more goals than any other Premier League side with 13, and have scored more than all bar Chelsea with 11.

Two attacking sides with dodgy defences that love to get things going quickly? 11/8 that there’s at least two strikes by half-time looks like buying money.

Recommended bet: Over 1.5 goals in the first half of Liverpool v Everton at 11/8 with BetVictor
